Overall it means the controller is lighter than some of its rivals, and if you need to plug it in to play and charge, you can use a cable to do so.
PDP XBOX ONE CONTROLLER SUCKS PS3
This is a wireless controller, and it relies on an internal lightweight battery as opposed to using AA's like I have seen in some other thir party PS3 controllers. They never failed to work, but I was often left wondering whether the next time I pressed the button they would stop working. The face buttons, however, are less 'springy' than I am used to in a controller. These are pretty comfortable, and with the analogue sticks feel really well-constructed. They're still accurate, but they just do not move quite as well as I would like.Įlsewhere the R2 and L2 triggers are elongated, making them more curved and like an actual trigger than is typical of PlayStation 3 controllers. All in all, the stick design is really good, so it is a little disappointing that they are looser than I would like. My thumbs set in on top of the sticks better here than in many other controllers, with the added bonus that here the sticks are also rubberised (which is a stark contrast to the more plastic Rock Candy controller I recently reviewed). Sticking with the analogue stick conversation, the sticks are concave (again, I prefer this to the slightly rounded DualShock 3 and its convex sticks). I have never had much of a preference for that left analogue stick's placement, but for those that do, this is a nice alternative on the PlayStation 3. The left one is further up and to the left, with the directional pad taking its place - just like an Xbox controller. Not ideal, though it worked well for my daughter and wife.Įven more unique for PlayStation controllers is that with this thing the analogue sticks are not evenly aligned. I have fairly large hands and the traditional PlayStation 3 DualShock controller feels almost too small to begin with, and this Afterglow controller feels even smaller.

The most immediately notable thing was just how small the controller felt in my hands. But of course that would be for naught if the controller sucked. So, let's take a look at another glowy peripheral! The PS3 Afterglow Wireless Controller has a glow that can be turned off, but as I usually play in a pretty dark room, the effect is a cool one. If that's the case, there's something shorting a loop in the bottom-two poles on the CTIA end.ĬTIA is the standard for 4-poled 3.5mm cords and OMTP is the same thing but the ground and mic parts are switched at the bottom 2 poles. We have recently had a look at a couple of different Afterglow headsets, with the company's primary gimmick being that the hardware is built with an internal glow. I'm not going to turn off vibration because I need that to play.ĭoes anybody have any suggestions? I've chatted with microsoft support and they said I may have to contact PDP for a possible replacement. The only thing I haven't tried is a double-ended 3.5mm TRRS cable with a CTIA-OMTP 3.5mm converter adapter - and I'm pretty sure that wouldn't do anything. Power cycled (hold power button until it turns off) and unplugged many times. I'm using a TRS 3.5mm > TRS 2.5mm > 'Official xbox one stereo adapter TRS 2.5mm - TRRS 3.5mm CTIA adapter' and it works for everything except the buzzing.Ĥ. Got an externally powered USB3 hub (5V 2.5A) for the hard drive/switched every config of that is powered by it.ģ. Changed USB ports (helped a lot at first) - Didn't work.Ģ. The most common problem that I've heard of is that the USB bus on the console is causing a loop or grounding problem.ġ.

Other USB devices: USB3 powered External 1TB 2.5" hard drive, Logitech LED illuminated USB keyboard. The mic part goes out through a 3.5mm TRS > 2.5mm TRS cable to the TRS > CTIA adapter that came with the xbox stereo adapter that comes from the inline controls and goes to the controller for mic transmit/receive.Ĭontroller: PDP Afterglow Prismatic Xbox One controller with the 3.5mm mic port and officially licensed stereo headset adapter that's inside the controller. Headset: Xbox 360 Tritton Pro+ via optical. My headset works fine with microsoft controllers via the stereo adapter (gen 1 controller). I have tried several troubleshooting techniques but none has solved my problem soįar. I got the wired PDP afterglow xbox one controller and I have a big problem with buzzing coming from my mic that I can sort-of hear and the other people can hear quite well.
